The Open Beta has massive queues.. upwards of 8000-10000 people waiting in Line. Good luck actually trying it.

I think it's pretty sweet, and tons of fun. Good enough to make me buy the $60 founders pack.

Unlike other MMO's it's more action oriented, and being set in the Forgotten Realms universe is just plain awesome (especially if you're a fan of the books)

I'd give it a few days to let the initial launch hype die off (and to let them compensate for the influx of players) by then the queue's should be much shorter (if not gone altogether)

The game itself is pretty decent. Nothing groundbreaking in terms of combat and questing. Combat is a lot of button mashing using your "At-Will" Powers. You get things like Daily Powers that are dependent on a Energy Bar or something. Once it's full you can use it. The game is loosely based on the 4e Ruleset. Questing is your standard MMORPG Fair. I can't say the storytelling is mindblowing but meh. Most people just click through quests to finish them.

Character customization is what you expect from a Cryptic game. Lots and lot of options to tweak your characters look. I was disappointed to see there was no Aasimir but they added Tieflings. Seems rather odd when you think about it. The game itself isn't a marvel graphically. Which is something else you can expect from a Cryptic game. Animations are not the greatest either.

The game itself is fine but it's not amazing. Cryptic is definitely not the greatest of MMORPG developers and you can see that with Neverwinter. I think DDO does things way better for a D&D Based MMO. I have a feeling they will go the DDO Route as well and lock out new races / classes behind paid gates. Hopefully not though.

Action MMO's are nearly a dime a dozen nowadays.

Queue position 11,449. Don't think I'll be trying it out before work this morning.

In 5 minutes I'm already down to 6500, so maybe queue times have been lowered, but I don't have time to wait.

Well, at least they know their queueing system works!

They might have increased the Queue Threshold.

Played a few hours with a friend. It was entertaining enough. We'll definitely play through some more. It was kind of rough around the edges, but it is free. Worth giving a try if you like MMOs.
