Red face Peggle Nights: No Widescreen Support

Unlike the free Peggle Extreme and Peggle Deluxe Demo, the Peggle Nights that I paid for does not support widescreens, it just leaves you with either a stretched out full-screen frame (which is impossible to aim properly) or a tiny 640x480 windowed frame.

I've tried editing the "partner.xml" file in the "Properties" folder of the game, and that part seems fine (was going to up the resolution to 1400x1050 and just run in windowed mode on my 1680x1050 LCD). However, then that checksum/signature file "partner.xml.sig" will not match, and thus the game won't launch. I've tried looking around online for something to generate the proper sig data/file, but no dice.

Emailed Popcap and Steam Support, doubt anything's going to come of this. Any help?

Great, the moron or bot at PopCap emailed back saying that the game is not compatible with my resolution setting, and that I should just run my computer at 800x600. Who runs their computers at 800x600? No one that's who, unless your running that on a 4:3 calculator. Jeezus....

Hmmm, I'd like to know more about this. I'm okay with no widescreen since the game is designed for 4:3. However, I'm not going to play it in a window.

Could you just set your video card or monitor to scale the image? That would probably yield the same result as letting the game do it, because I doubt they have different graphics sets for different resolutions.
