3-23 update

Thanks for the update, but I and many other server owners have two other issues that have not yet been fixed.

Thousands of these error messages fly by when I watch the live server logs.

When these error messages are flying by in my logs, my 40-man servers experience lag. I have no other lag issues besides when these error messages are happening.

We need a fix for this SOON!

Yes. These issues started about a month ago here. I also have several other posts about it on this forum. I have also sent a support request to valve.

I just spent some time trying to fix the CreateFragments problem. I wanted to create a "catch-all" symlink to an empty file. I wasn't able to figure out how to do this yet so maybe a linux guru can advise.

I'd like to make it so evertime any file is requested within the "downloads" directory, it just links to an empty file.

It's sad that we have to resort to these types of measures for what appears to be such a trivial problem (looking for files that do not exist).

A little more about my system:

P4 2.8GHz HT. 1GB pc3200 RAM.
Linux - Fedora Core 2
Kernel: 2.6.10-1.14_FC2
100mbit connection

I run just a 40-man CSS server on this and these errors are causing my only lag issues. The server basically locks up for short intervals as hundreds of these errors flow by.

Could not AllocSound() for InsertSound() (DLL) spammed as well. I don't know what's going on and it's pretty annoying. Especially since no one knows what it is, and since the last update didn't fix it...
