setting the maxplayers to 64 resulted in the console window showing 0 of 64 players but the game shows up in the server lists as a 32 player server...

what's up with that?

Sorry for the not so quick reply people, but I had an accident ( a bleeding in my brain ), so it will take a while before I will update the manual, but thx sgtpain for the addon, as soon as I feel a bit better I will work on it.

Ok im sorry but this is ridiculous. It is so trouble some to set the dumb thing up and so complicated for just simple users. What if someone just wanted to create a dedicated server or their friends to play and they wanted a dedicated server for peek performance. YOU CANT DO TAHT WITH THIS. VALVE needs to make it easer to have a dedicated server outside of Steam or they need to make it so you can run the dedicated server on your account and also be able to play!!! or they need to have a seperate download for all of the necissary file so all that i have to do is click on some shortcuts.

In time people will probably make an installfile for a ded source server, but like with this manual, there will always be problems, because we don't use the same hardware & windows/linuxversion.

If downloading/updating doesn't go that quick try making an update.bat file. Open a textfile and put this line in it:

hldsupdatetool -command update -game "Counter-Strike Source" -dir c:\srcds -username xxxxx -password yyyyy -remember_password –retry

Save the file as update.bat, use your dir/username/password and make sure it's in the same directory as hldsupdatetool.exe

Now by doubleclicking this bat file your server will install/update itself, if it's not going quick enough or if it's not working very well I just stop it and doubleclick it again. You can even put this bat file in a schedule in that way your server will always be up to date.

"If you update your server using this bat file it helps to have the output written to a txt file for later reference, because the window closes so fast." CPeanutG will tell you here how to do this.

IT'S NOT THAT HARD!!!!! You need minimum if any basic computer skills to put in the hlds. It's basically click...click.... type username and password register. Copy.. Paste... click....click.... omgdsimdonepwnage!

Hmm, can't seem to follow you shaka117, because you write "stop bumping this" and later on "great job", I'm guessing you're pleased with the manual, if not please let me know wich part you don't like and I might be willing to change it.
