I'm not getting any errors. A black box appears on the screen, (I think it's the "preparing to launch" window) and then my steam status changes to in-game, and immediately back to online.

Tried the app which didn't work, now trying to re-install but it keeps telling me "Steam needs to be online to update". I am online, but it doesn't seem to think I am. Will try again when I get home on a wired connection to see if it works there.

No need to say, but I have the same problem... steam should al least say something about that... just to know what's going on, when it will be fixed (and they have to fix it)

Is reinstalling the .app enough to fix this or do I also have to delete the Library folder?

edit: nvm reinstalling the .app is enough.

Angry steamui.dylib all over again

seems I'm having the same problem on Mountain Lion now. I tried the valve ticket but there they suggested what many tried before on this forum. I deleted the steam app + all files except the steam apps in the application support folder.. they also suggested it might be due to my network, but that's bullocks. So now i'm stuck here. Some were revering to libiconv.2.dylib
Might that be the solution? And.. if that's it, where to do what with this file? Where do I retrieve it from...

I am having this problem right now, on a macbook pro with mountain lion and fully updated. Recently uninstalled steam approximately three months ago to free up some space, but I recently bought Borderlands 2 and had to reinstall Steam to get the game.

Long story short I'm currently 60 bucks down, not to mention all the other games I had, and don't know enough about computers to start fiddling in terminal and fix it manually.

Steam do help with this, it would be mighty convenient.

Steam Fix

I have contacted steam and there where no help at ALL!! I recently downloaded Borderlands 2 and my steam was showing the same error a few days after my purchase.

This is what i did to fix this problem. 1 delete steam from your Mac. 2 restart your Mac, when it is booting up hold down command+R. This will make go into system restore. No worries this will not erase any data you currently have. Simply re-install your OSX (takes 2-3 hrs). 3 reinstall steam! and it should work.

It worked for me and now steam is up and running with no problems!!
