TF2 custom sound problems

I commonly use custom skins and sounds in tf2, So I know the whole process of inputting custom content. I downloaded a freeze_cam.wav and a your_team_won.wav from the internet, put it in the sound folder, and they worked. Then i decided to make my own files. I edited the sounds, converted them to .wav, and put them in the sound folder, but they didn't work. Help? Is there something I'm not doing?

Impossible to tell without any details, but a fairly common mistake that people make when it comes to modding sounds is save files with an incorrect Hertz value. I'd check that first.
