its not installed by default in 10.8... Wine will not function that way because it requires X11 on any platform. You have to either use Wineskin or Crossover which has their own X11 builds made into them, or install XQuartz to get X11.

Yes, it's only for Mac Pros. I have a GTX 680 in mine (requires some trickery); the drivers are compatible with it and provide far better performance than the ones included in OS X.

Wine is indeed broken, the developers have made a statement:

Apparently Apple broke something, don't download 10.8.2 if you want to use Wine!!

that link is to Wineskin, not Wine... (yes Wineskin uses Wine)
there is a bug report filed with Wine, and I heard Codeweaver's (who make Crossover) is also working on a fix since they use Wine as well and Crossover died too.

there are no official prebuilt wine packages for mac os.

you can compile from source via macports. it does depend on x11.

apparently Wineskin will be fixed soon, and there is a work-a-round.

This means games like The Witcher will need to update their game or it'll stay broken...

looks like Wineskin is fixed now...

I know The Witcher Mac version on Steam will stay broken until they upgrade it with the new version.

I gave up on the Witcher on mac.

I updated the wineskin to the latest but it still ran really bad. Ended up just installing my Windows 7 copy...

Exclamation Did 10.8.2 screw up my fps?

After I updated to 10.8.2, my fps in cs:go dropped from a consistent 60 to 15-30. It is terrible. Oddly enough, cs:source runs perfectly fine. Is there a way to go back to 10.8.1 or what do you guys recommend? Thanks in advance.

Specs
Macbook Pro Retina
2.6 Ghz Intel i7
8GB DDR3
Nvidia Geforce GT 650m

Unless you made a USB installer with 10.8 or 10.8.1 on it, probably not.

Your best option is to wait until Nvidia updates the standalone 304.00.00f20 drivers to be compatible with 10.8.2. They provided a significant perf increase on my system under 10.8.1.

They only install on a Mac Pro but you can extract the drivers using Pacifist. Hopefully they'll support RMBPs in the next release.

Just installed and updated my 650m MacBook Pro with those drivers so now I'm running 304 series instead of 295 series.

Had to show package contents and force the install however...
