I bought plain Dead Island in the summer sale, and today it seems to have become unavailable when I try to play it.

I'm assuming this upgrade probably had something to do with it. Anyone else having this problem?

EDIT: Nevermind - verify cache did the trick.

What I'm saying is that it turned out that people who have the regular Dead Island in their inventory now have a wrong ID associated with it (or something) which makes it look like the GOTY. So let's say you bought Dead Island vanilla as a gift months ago, and it now visually looks like the GOTY; the game itself has not automatically been changed into the GOTY in your inventory.

Long story short:
- You bought Dead Island as a gift: it will be Dead Island when the gift is redeemed
- You bought Dead Island GOTY as a gift: it will be Dead Island GOTY including all the DLC when redeemed
So... if I wanted to trade something for Dead Island GOTY with someone, there would be no way of knowing until after the trade if I actually get the GOTY version or not?

Does anyone know if this "loyalty" 50% discount will apply on top of a Steam sale. Because i will be pretty disappointed if it doesn't. I usually pre order most of my games, paying full price to play at release and wait for a 75% on all dlcs to buy them because i don't really enjoy paying sometimes the same retail price again for loads of dlcs. It was no different with Dead Island, i pre ordered it and got the Ripper Mod/Blood Arena dlcs for no additional cost. I was waiting for a 75% discount on the Ryder White dlc so i could get it for $2,50; but now that they don't sell the dlcs separately anymore i would have to buy the Ryder Whithe dlc for $5, which is the same as everyone would be paying for the full game and all 3 dlcs(considering that the 50% doesn't apply on top of the 75% sale). This would be . I wish they kept the normal version with the dlcs separately and added the GOTY version for new buyers like basically every other game on steam that isn't 10 years old.

Hoping to have this up in the next couple of weeks.

I still think it sucks that the "loyalty bonus" 50% discount is off when the game is on sale. Why should I have to pay the same price as somebody that doesn't have the game when all I want is the extra character storyline?

Why aren't the two other DLCs made available for me to purchase separately (the Ripper is) is also mind boggling.

You might as well jump on it for 66%. You are saving another $3.20 at the moment.

But I understand where your coming from. Maybe 75% off for you folks would be nice?

you can make the discount 90% and the public is still getting the same deal as a previous owner.

add to that the fact you can no longer buy 2 of the 3 DLC seperately and Valve no longer lets you give away your duplicates.

I sure hate to see valve become as terrible as EA and Activision, but it sure seems we are headed that way.

75% would be better, sure. I might even upgrade then. Mostly only because I got the base game from a friend. Wouldn't it be easier to make the 50% extra discount apply? I don't know if Valve recently changed how discounts-on-top-of-discounts system works, but last year i'm pretty sure it worked.

About "Valve not allowing you to give away your duplicates". I'm not sure that's Valve's call. It must be the publishers, because there are games where you CAN give away your duplicates, specially Valve ones (Left 4 Dead pack comes to mind, where you can give away Left4Dead 1 if you already have it).

I'm not sure the Arena and White Rider DLC were ever available for download - this very thread has people talking about "oh, we'll put the ripper up for sale, don't worry", but never any talk about the other two DLCs. But don't quote me on that.

It is valve that controls the duplicate gifting process, not the Devs. All games had this ability until sometime around late 2011 when valve pulled it from everyone.

also it doesnt matter what the price of the DLC would be seperate or not, to not offer it as a seperate purchase doesnt make sense to me at all.
