Cheap vs Expensive Motherboard

Hi,
I'm thinking of building a new computer, these are the specs so far:

Intel Core i5 750 Processor
Samsung HD103UJ 1000GB 3.5" SATA-II 32MB Cache 7200rpm
Cooler Master Elite334 Nvidia Edition
750W "Corsair" TX-750 ATX Power Supply
Galaxy GF GTX 295 PCI-E 2.0 1792MB DDR3

The only thing i'm not sure of is the motherboard. I'm going to get one from hereI was planning on getting the MSI P55-CD53 which seems both cheap and good. Whats the difference between the Msi and the more costly ones? Will all the parts work together fine?

Another question is the ram. I could get a 4G Kit DDR3 1333 G.Skill-Ripjaws, 1600, 1866 or a 2000, (each increasing by $10). Which one should i get and will the mobo handle it.

Thanks.

MSI motherboards are definitely decent and worthy a purchase. I tend to look at Gigabyte boards because I like some of the features they include like a dual BIOS. But there's nothing wrong with MSI.

Just make sure that your personal feature checklist is satisfied. So if you think you'll ever run dual graphics cards make sure the board can handle it, for example. If you need Firewire or eSATA make sure it has it so you're not stuck buying expansion cards later.

I'm not really up to speed on DDR3 so I don't want to say anything there.

Thanks for your reply rep_victim,
Yeah i wont be needing most of that stuff so i think the motherboard will be good. The only thing is this which i got off the Msi website:

Supports four unbuffered DIMM of 1.5 Volt DDR3 1066/1333/1600*/1800*/2000*/2133* (OC) SDRAM, 16GB Max

Whats the asterix mean?

That usually means you get support for those speeds via overclocking of something like the FSB. The board will 'support' it by making the settings available in the BIOS, but there's no guarantee it'll work.

That video card is a horrible choose sir.Go for the HD5870.Use your old card for awhile if you must to wait for them to restock but the 295 is just a wast of money for a last gen card.

Get the cheapest RAM, and yeah the mobo will be fine.

I would also recommend the 5870 over the GTX 295. You may get more raw performance with the 295 but multi GPU is so...meh.

Hey, I run a 4870 on a board with nVidia chipsets. XP Anyways, price definitely effects what quality board you would be getting. I've built and repaired a lot of computers and I can say without a doubt cheap boards are a gamble. For my rig I sprung for nice ASUS mobo with SLI and AM3 support, I won't have to upgrade that anytime soon. It also has solid capacitors, which is a good thing, trust me.

Well i trust MSI, so hopefully they'll be good.
(The laptop i'm on at the moment is an msi and its awesome)

lol, plus a chipset is slightly less noticeable than the giant nvidia logo on the front and sides. lol.
