Launch dod and create a local server. Stop the server and the server list should populate, sometimes it takes a couple of tries but usually first time

New player. How common is wallhacking? The first game I've joined seems to have one, twice as many kills as any other player and watching him in spectator looks obvious.

Less common that you think. Hackers are still out there, but this is the kind of game where a skilled player will look like they're hacking to newer players.

Most older players know the maps and will prefire common areas just in case. They will also utilize sound to listen to footsteps to determine if people are coming close.

Instead of calling out the player on hacking, spec them for a while and watch what they do. When you are ready to play again, try to emulate what they did, ie, prefiring in those spots, running the same sort of routes, etc.

i have issues with the server browser

i find 20-50 servers (europe + people playing on it )

90% of those seem to be some kind of server clones - when i join i get connected to the same IP (all of whom have the same map listed)
but the name is quite different

the rest 10% lists at 2x/32 players but when i connect it only has about 0 or 1 players on it

whats up with that ?
there a fix ?

How do you stop that "dancing on the ice" movement? Positioning gets pretty frustrating when you automatically float for a second even when you stop movement.

As far as I know, with the 2008 Orange Box update they changed the default value of sv_friction from 8 to 4. Some servers still use 4, wich games the movement very slippery. The best way to stop this is to counter-strafe. If you're moving right, tap the A button to move to the left and stop the model. It works a lot better with sv_friction 8, but it might make the game a little better with sv_friction 4.

Also, this is one of the most important skills to master, specially when using rifles.
