Borderlands 2 Won't launch

Whenever i try starting the game the steam window pops up that says launching borderlands2 and then it closes and nothing happens. I've tried everything, from installing the files in the boderlands 2 redist folder, deleting the game and reinstalling. nothing works. please help

win7 64 bit
nvidia 306 whql drivers
i7 950
6 gigs ram
2x gtx 480
evga x86 sli mobo
1 tb traditional hd

I get an updating tab whenever I try to launch BL2.......really annoying the crap out of me! I'd have to go offline mode to get it to run.....
