it won't launch!
it seems I am one of many victims of this problem. The game won't launch, it won't give an error it just won't play.
I'm running Windows 7, 64bit. I've downloaded all the various files people have suggested in the other threads. I've downloaded sonic generations (which works!), i've updated direct X etc. I've checked the integrity of the files. The config screen works, just the game won't. I've put a ticket in with Sega, but their been slow. |

Hi,
I posted this in another thread: Even if you are running x64, you have to download Visual C++ 2010 (x86) Link here: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en...s.aspx?id=5555 Enjoy! |

I have had this problem with several games from Steam.
Try opening the executable directly: C:\program files\steam\steamapps\common\sonic4\sonic_vis.exe When I tried to run this file, it would give me the error: "d3dx9_41.dll not designed to run....blahblah..." If this is your issue, it can be fixed by "breaking" the directx installation and reinstalling. Change the name of this file to something recognizable like "d3dx9_41_NAMECHANGED.dll" and run the directx installer. Mine is called "dxwebsetup.exe" This will notice that the _41 file is no longer there, so then it will download and reinstall it. If you don't change/remove the _41 file, it will see it and assume it is correct. After installation of this file, try it from Steam again and it should work. |

Sorry for the late response.
The error I get is that: MSVCR100.dll is missing frmo your computer. Try reinstalling blah blah. Would your fix work for that? |

The Microsoft Visual C++ package you will be downloading is just files that helps things work with newer technologies and Windows. There is nothing to use. My last post in this thread has a description of the error that my method fixes. It only fixes files starting with "d3dx" or other DirectX files. Anything else is a different problem.

I've installed MS XML version 4 and 6, and the game launched after that.
Just download it from microsoft website. |

I am glad to report that installing APB Reloaded (Free To Play) somehow fixed my Sonic Launching problem. Sounds strange, and I didn't expect it to work, but it did! Hope this helps!
