Question Walking speed

Is there any way to increase the walking speed? I like the game it's just that well, walking is too slow and it takes forever to get from one place to another.

That's kind of the point. The game is all about exploration at a slow pace so that you can take in all of the scenery.

I thought it was a bit slow at first as well, but after a few minutes I came to the conclusion that it's a perfect speed: just enough to take in your surroundings, yet not so slow as to be annoying.

You can use the command de_playerwalkspeed in the console if you want. Set it to 300 and you will have a nice brisk run. Obviously the game isn't supposed to be experienced like this, but, to each his own obviously.

Also you might want to bind it to a key, like, bind q "de_playerwalkspeed 300" because there are triggers throughout the maps that constantly change your walking speed, so it resets.

That command doesn't work.
Unknown command: de_playerwalkspeed

I understand that but if you walk into a dead end it's kinda annoying to slowly walk all the way back, I wasn't planning on speedrunning through the game

300 is way too fast, values between 125 and 150 work fine for me

the command is de_playerspeed so the bind command is: bind q "de_playerspeed 125"

At least play it once as the designers meant it to be played...

Exactly. Increasing the walking speed will 'break' the experience.

Thanks this "fixed" the game for me. i know it was the dev's intent but it was too painfully slow for me.

It is slow. It makes me wonder why we humans get so bored at slow walking in video games but not in real life. Probably because there's still only stimulation against two senses--sight and sound--versus all five of reality.
