I have a same issue - all static textures are black (most of the level except for scabs, enemies, some effects). Running on a GeForce 6600 Go - cant update the driver, last one supporting this card came out in 2010.
Also during the tutorial levels the sky acted weird - anything that came onto it left a trail, sort of like "noclip" in quake. I'll post a screenshot tomorrow. |

If you see the black textures on an NVIDIA card, it is likely because the card does not have enough graphics memory to hold all the textures. Xotic requires 512 MB of texture memory; I believe the max memory configuration of a 6600 Go is 256 MB.
If you are on an Intel board and it has enough memory (and the textures appear briefly when you fire Volt, Bombug or Scorch), then it is more likely a driver issue. We are looking into this. |

I hate to bring this problem up again but I'm using a Nvidia 7600 GS and it does have 512 MB of video Ram. I'm also experiencing the black textures problem and cannot upgrade my graphics drivers. Using latest ones from Nvidia that work with my card. Could Xotic not be seeing the full 512 mb that my card has?
EDIT: Just tried with Nvidia 296.10 drivers and still am getting black textures. Last edited by Acid0057: 04-27-2012 at 09:05 AM. Reason: Checked latest drivers |

Nope nothing forced in the Nvidia Control Panel. Just the default settings. Could it be that somewhere Xotic is getting the wrong amount of video ram?

Sorry for the double post but I am still having the black texture problem. I noticed Nvidia has Beta 301 drivers out I might try those and report back.

Just wondering if there was ever a fix for this. I'm running Intel HD as well, and I can't see. I assumed it was just the caves, but when I got to the next world, well. I imagine there are structures around me, because I keep running into stuff. But it makes getting around very complicated.

Not solved for me on the Nvidia 7600 GS. I'm now using the official WHQL 301 drivers from Nvidia.
Any thoughts Pyronious? |

Unfortunately I don't have a solution for this. Every time I hear about black textures it is either on an Intel integrated graphics or a 7x00 series Nvidia card, so there is clearly a pattern there but unfortunately we haven't been able to track down the reason why.

Pyronious would it help if I attached or emailed you a copy of my Dxdiag and System Info reports? Or any other reports to help track it down?

Unfortunately we've lost our programming staff to better offers in the local game community. At this time we don't have a way to address this issue.
We are trying to keep the dream alive, but it's tough going. I'm sorry we don't have a fix for this yet. |

That's okay Pyronious. Please let me know if you need any more information in the future. I'm hopeful that you will find programmers and that this will get fixed in the near future.
