Lowering ping
Hello,
First of all, I'd like to give you some information about my server WHICH I RUN AT HOME: Code:
PC Specs: Pentium IV 3.0 GHz (HT turned off) 2GB DDR2 Ram Gbit network adapter Code:
OS: Debian 5 Lenny, kernel 2.6.26.8-rt16, 1000Hz Code:
Internet connection: 100 mbit down / 10 mbit up (On speedtest.net 9.27 mbit up) Code:
HLDS: Running one Dust2 24/7 with 24 slots, that's it. Startup line: ./hlds_run -game cstrike -autoupdate -pingboost 3 +maxplayers 24 +map de_dust2 +port 27017 Rates: sv_maxrate 25000 sv_minrate 10000 sv_maxupdaterate 101 sv_minupdaterate 60 sv_unlag 1 sv_maxunlag 0.5 fps_max 0 sys_ticrate 1200 Mods: Metamod AMXModX with a few plugins HLStatsX PodBot (Running 4 bots when server empty) Example (Only me connected, playing with 3 bots): FPSMeter.org (300 measurements with a 1 second interval) Same results when playing with 4 normal clients (including me). Now on to my question. I live in the Netherlands, and people from my country normally ping around 20 on rental servers hosted in our country. But when people connect to my server there ping is around 30-40. So my question is: How can I lower the ping on my server even more, since I already run at a 1000fps stable, with -pingboost 3 added to the command line. Plus my bandwidth is more than enough to run 24 slots on with those rates, right? My goal is to reach 18-22 ping for clients from the Netherlands. Do you guys have any ideas for me? Thank you! The IP of my server is 94.215.47.4:27017 in case you want to test out or just play a couple o rounds. Last edited by crash92: 03-29-2012 at 03:51 PM. |

On a side note, are you running pingboost 3 right now? I have had problems getting pingboost 3 to run without having it speed up the server, and I just joined yours and things were running at speed. |
