Do you have triple buffering on? Turning it off fixed it for me.

tried running this on my old rig but game was having the crash issue mentioned here
Windows XP Pro 32-bit w/ SP3 AMD Athlon XP 2.0 Ghz 2.0 GB RAM ATI Radeon X850XT (256MB AGP) Catalyst 10.2 Legacy Drivers apparently the game defaults to Graphics Quality: "High" (pretty stupid) and that was causing the problem for me. I took the game's configuration file from my newer system, changed a few video settings and then just copied it over and then was able to launch the game normally. Anyway, I decided to create a sample configuration file with safe settings for the initial launch of the game: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B7j...Q2YTU4YzY1NzQx For Windows XP, place in the following location: \Documents and Settings\<Your Username>\My Documents\Over the Top Games\NyxQuest |

I want to try this, but I cannot even find a folder for NyxQuest other than the normal steam folder. Mine just pops up a black screen, then drops back to desktop.

if you go to 'My Documents' (or the associated folder) you should have a folder in there named 'Over the Top Games' with a 'Nyxquest' subdirectory in it. if you put the system.cfg file I posted above in that folder it should attempt to start the game with 'safe' settings (which you can then change after in the game menu). if those folders aren't there you can try creating them, but they should be
