One Computer, Two Steam accounts, two dayz characters?
I want to be able to run two separate DayZmod characters, and have two steam accounts, both with Arma etc purchased...
But I can't get Daymod to recognise them as separate. I found this explanation, but it doesn't seem to make any difference: Quote:

Yup, and we have two steam accounts:
number 1 bought Arma 2, Arma 2 OA, BAF and PMC seperately number 2 bought Arma X Anniversary edition. So my understanding was this would mean we have two game (cd) keys, and hence two characters. The issue might be further confused by the fact that the second account gets the pmc header decryption error :-( strange |

The multiple CD-key are just one of the many obstacles. Apparently, (Not 100%, but pretty sure) the game/mod automatically detects your IP as well.
Basically, you can't play multiple DayZ characters unless your running a different router with different internet, and different Steam accounts with different copies of ARMA 2:CO. Otherwise, good luck. |

Could maybe try using a proxy on one account to bypass the ip restriction? Not sure if that would work but just thought I'd throw it out there. I just purchased Arma 2 Combined Operations from Steam specifically for the Dayz mod. It is currently downloading and I cannot wait!

I'm actually hoping someone can find an answer to this, I'd like to play this game with my brother. We've both bought the game on our steam accounts, but when we both try to log into the game, even on separate servers only one of us can actually get into the game world but its always with the same character for both of us. How do we separate it so we both have our own characters? Is this because we're both using the same wireless router?
When you suggest using a proxy does that slow down the person using it significantly? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you! |

The game may load the default profile tied to the computer, ensure you create a new profile in ArmaII, has worked for me.

I have 2 other brothers and we all play DayZ on one computer. We have had the same problem until we found a solution. What we do is since the game recognizes the CD key for the last profile played, when ever one of us wants to play DayZ, we have to log into our steam account and and launch the game until you get to the title screen. This way DayZ will recognize the CD of that profile and will load that character. It might be a hassle but thats what it is.
Even when you guys still load each other character you still have to change the name of the character. Your character profile is not tied to your DayZ character, The profile name is only used to change what name appears on your character, so you would be able to change your name every time you play with the same character. ArmA: 2 does not track your ip so you can play multiple characters on the same computer, it works for me Hope this will answer you question, it has worked for me
