Unhappy Jam the guns of team killers!

Today, a friend and I started a No Mercy versus. Played the first level alone, then others joined and we had lots of fun. Then even more joined. The other team got owned in the Hospital and the new ones voted to return to the lobby.

I mean, hell, even that is stupid! That was a nice game, why should we return? We spent a lot of time to even get there and teams were balanced.

Then, at the beginning of the finale, one of the owned new player switched to survivors and killed all teammates in the save room. Then he left. Game was ruined.

It's useless to moan about it (but anyway, go to hell, "MP"), but shouldn't be there any sort of automatism that ultimatively prevents teamkilling?

Friendly fire is okay and it's okay how much it hurts. But if one hits 4, 5 or 6 times in a row, it's teamkilling. The teamkiller should be stunned or his gun should jam... something.

Anyone agrees?

Yes.

But it doesn't happen.

Play with Friends or join PRC (Play Responsibly Club) to minimise these types of wankers (jerk offs) spoiling your game.

Some people are just really bad with friendly fire. Not much you can do about griefing without risking hurting just as many innocents.

And as already said, playing with friends is a pretty good way to have fun in this game.

I think griefers will join such groups to even become worse... Such groups dont help that much from my experience. Better is to simply gather a team of 4 yourself and then play 4vs4 versus.

Well valve could make some simple changes that wouldnt hurt the innocents.

1. No FF in spawn
2. If a person leaves, dc's, or gets votekicked all FF done in the past 45 seconds is undone.
3. If a person dies do to a fall that does not involve an SI, and then either leaves or is votekicked the bot will respawn at the current groups location with the prevous amount of health.

Given if you got 2 griefers you're still screwed like in the current system. I guess they could implement a griefer kick function where someone on the griefers team could do a vote kick, and then everyone on the server would get to vote, so you could kick 2 griefers. It's probably got some potential for abuse though.

Should be like all other shooters:
1. Friendly fire (target takes damage) to 19 damage.
1. Mirrored damage (shooter/target both take damage) from 20-40 damage.
2. Reflective damage (shooter takes damage) from 41+ damage.

The problem with all the "play with friends" comment is that the large majority of L4D players DON'T play with friends, nor do they want to. They just hop on and play. Having friends in a game shouldn't be a prerequisite for having an enjoyable experience.

Let's make a clear distinction here. By "friends" in these discussions people refer to Steam friends, not real life friends. A Steam friend doesn't need to be anything but someone you enjoyed playing with.

Some steam friends are single serving friends. You play with them once then remove them from your account when it gets full.

....
that would be great. people would still suicide that way, but at least the rest could carry on.

and yes, I also think that people want to play public, especially to make friends.

What about a sec delay when you friendly fire a team mate that does X much damage over so much time. Even in versus it would be a punishment for people who spray and it's something people have been asking for for a while.

Even with the auto shotgun it takes minutes to kill ONE person, not to mention the entire group. So did you just stand and let him kill you? Or was it a hacked/modded server with versus expert?
