Angry Very Fast Animation Speed Makes the Game unplayable

Everything is animating extremely fast making the game basically unplayable. Combat is almost impossible since the monsters are moving at light speed. I purchased the game over Steam last night and need to know if there is some way of slowing things down.

I'm very disappointed that the game is acting this way. Please help!!

Did you try to enable vertical sync (or Vsync) in you video card control panel? That may help fixing your issue...

It's cus you're playing a game designed for systems of its time, not crazy new stuff we have now.

Cap the fps.

This is neither true or helpful. There are many games that I play on this same system that were made around the same time and many that are older.

Doesn't change the fact that the game is not made for newer systems, its plain luck if old games still work on newer systems.

Again, not helpful. Lots of other people are playing this game without issue. How about tips that I can try, to fix the game. If you don't have anything helpful to say, then don't post.

Possible fix...

For those that are experiencing the same issue, you could try this patch.

It seems to have fixed the animation issue.

And if the patch doesn't help you, go in steam and set the EXE files' compatibility mode to windows XP. But I heard that there is a new patch 1.21, if it's not installed by steam, go in the main arx fatalis website and download it. Probably it fixes all those issues.

Try Cont/Alt/Del, right click the process and then set affinity to one or the other of the processors, not both.

*sigh

I get a similar problem. Everything moves normal but me. I move at light speed when the game lags or my fps drops by 1.

I system restore whenever this happens. If it still doesn't work I try update my graphics drivers, or get an older version of them that works.
