Help!

Just bought this game after I saw it for half price, looked at a few videos and it looked good. Also played Empire before it and like that so I though, why not? Only $15..

Anyway... one HUGE problem....... The game wont get past the first splash screen. I launch it and it freezes on the screen with all of the copyright information. Don't know why this is but even in task manager it says 'not responding'. I left it on there for about 3 minutes and nothing happened.... any ideas?

Thanks
-Matt

Thank you very much for at least taking the time to reply!

I've already tried to verify the game files... Twice, and that did nothing. I don't really want to uninstall, delete and re-download as it is 22GB but if I have to I suppose I will.

It is a pretty old PC but can run new-ish games..

There's a screenshot of my specs. Not sure how in depth that is or if that will help but if you need any more info just ask.

Reinstalling shouldn't help anyway; it's doubtful that it's the actual game files that cause the problem (probably some cache or settings stored somewhere else).
Try deleting the directory
C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Napoleon
(although since you never successfully started Napoleon, that probably won't help);
The other thing the support often suggests to delete are in
C:\PROGRAM FILES (X86)\STEAM
the files
APPUPDATESTATS.BLOB
CLIENTREGISTRY.BLOB
After that, restart Steam and verify game again.

Wow! Sorry about the long wait for a reply! Wouldn't let me log in..
I tried deleting the .blob files and re starting and re verifying the game files. That did nothing. I also deleted the Napoleon folder in appdata, that also did nothing. I have no idea what else I can do....

Try manually installing everything from your 'redist' folder, found inside your steam game folder.

Thanks for the reply..

This one actually sounded really promising when I eventually found the folder xD

Unfortunately, it didn't work. I installed Direct X again and the Microsoft file in there....

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Hi guys, thank you so much for all your help.

Nothing you suggested worked but I spent a couple of hours ( -_- ) researching the problem.

SOLUTION:
I right clicked on the game in my library, clicked properties and hit 'set launch options'. From there, I typed in '-fullscreen'.

The person who posted this said it didn't work for him but I tried it anyway.

Once again, thanks a lot!
