Question Mirrors edge random slowdown on level with physx?

first of all
GPU - XFX Radeon HD 6850 1gb (AMD)
Resolution 1920/1080
Screen - 21.5 inch Samsung LED Monitor

i have been having alot of fun playing mirrors edge, but i encountered a major problem. on a level - i cant remember which one, but it is the one where you speak to faith's sister after the mayor candidate was shot, after the cutscene ends you look down and you can see the cops, i jump down, keep running to the right of the room, turn left jump over a glass cabinet, then left again until you can see the stairs, just as i get to the first glass cabinet on this side of the room you jump over the fps freefalls to 15fps, and does not go back up. not only does it not go back up after that point but it goes DOWN, i tried to keep going but even i couldnt play the game when it got to 4fps (was using FRAPS to measure).

note - i have played that level several times to ensure that wasn't an anomaly.

i discovered this morning that running Physx was causing this slowdown. but up till that point on the level before i had no problems what so ever, or on the level beforehand either. so would be because it happens at a certian specific point on the level would it just be bad programming on the game devs part? and if so can i work around that?

link to see my mirrors edge settings - note Physx is turned off, typically with Physx enabled before that crash point i was running at 60fps, with it off 62fps.

any help is useful thankyou - especially as i would like to have Physx enabled because i like seeing the little graphical details.

If you would like to enable PhysX you need a Nvidia graphics card to run it. AMD cards simply don't support it.
In order for you to run the game at a playable frame rate, you'll need to leave it turned off.

Because very little PhysX effects are happening up until then. Once the glass starts breaking it's simply too much load for the CPU (Which is what would be processing it because your GPU can't) to handle.

Edit: Here's a comparison video for you to get a better idea;

There's a sticky message which details how to fix Physx for this game... check it out, above.

^ He can't do the fix on the sticky thread since he's not running an Nvidia card.
