Game not properly aligned in Fullscreen

Was thinking of trying this game again, but I'm having a problem with the game's display.

When I try to set the game to 1440x900 fullscreen the game isn't alligned properly. What happens is the game's alignment is too far to the right and bottom, leaving a pretty big black border on the left and top of my screen. I assumed if I close and open the game again I'll fix the alignment problem, but every time I open the game it always starts in windowed mode.

Is there anything I can do to keep the game in fullscreen and fix this problem? Or am I more than likely forced to only play in windowed?
