Film grain from L4D?
I love Day of Defeat: Source but I'm tired of the clean look. I want some gritty visuals.
I remember the trailer for this game. Having the film grain on while you were alive, in my opinion, is awesome and helps me feel like this was way back in the day and it wasn't pretty. This game was given a lot of features from TF2 and most of them jarateed off a lot of players. My idea is, why not give this game that film grain level that players have the option to adjust in Left4Dead? If you don't want it, fine, slide it to 0. If you want it to be like you're playing a soldier from actual WWII footage, then slide that bar as high up as you please. What do you guys think? |

yea i wouldn't trust valve not to screw something like that up, BUT they did update dods (i mean tf2) and didn't break demo's.

i'd like grain, period. it gives the textures and object outlines the appearance of even more detail.
i have no idea why anyone would want "film" grain since this is a first person game, not a movie. |

Just because this is a first person doesn't mean you can't have some stylized visuals. I don't understand why some people like to stay in the comfort zone with their games and don't want to see something a little different.
Like I suggested, you could adjust the level of the film grain. If you don't want any at all, just put it to 0. I don't see the harm this could cause if it were added to this game. |

EDIT : also, better things to focus their time on than film grain during action Pre-emptive edit : their non-existent time |

Yeah I seriously doubt Valve will ever update this game with something that isn't in TF2 ever again.
So if the only thing Valve has time for is adding features from other games to Day of Defeat, let one of them be the grain. New eye candy can sometimes make a game feel fresh again. |

Screw film grain...I'm playing a game, not a movie.
The film grain when you're dead or in spec is annoying...and I always have it off. |

its the same about the depth of field feature in cod4. some like to turn it on in mp for atmosphere reasons, others rather like to have it switched off because they can perform better without it
non-spectator film grain should have been an option for dods from the very beginning. but I highly doubt valve will add this now. the game has got its orange box update and there are other priorities like tf2 and l4d2 for valve. dods will be left alone accept this fact |

Unless they update dods to the same engine L4D is on then i doubt DODS will get that grain effect.

indeed the film grain in spec some of us can not stand so it would need to be optional.
