Anything to do with the old War Inc.?

So I saw this a while ago and thought to myself "Oh, they're remaking the old 1997 highly customizable Strategy game War Inc.!" But now I see it's just a shooter. Does this have anything to do with the old Strategy game or is this just a case of "Same name, different game"?

Too bad yes, I was so much hoping for a remake too.

It had some potential but the management was simply inept, another could have been story.
It is pretty much a dead game now.
