Just saying, Qt might behave better than Valve's vgui (and uses Cocoa instead of Carbon), but it has it's share of problems at least on OSX (At least the latest 4.8 version has some annoying text and font bugs). Qt might not be that well supported anymore as Nokia is going down fast (They weren't even interested in Desktop versions) and valve probably has better knowledge of their own system.
