[SOLUTION] Got a Washed out screen with a diagonal line? No problem!

I've spent all morning trying to fix the problem, and I did! So I've decided to share it with the world.

The problem is as described, the render and output quality is very low, the gamma and screen is washed out, and there is a diagonal line running through it.

Here is a picture of the problem, credit to turrentabler678 since I do not want to revert to take a screenshot.

How I managed to fix this was to do the following:

1. Go to the property window of SFM by right-clicking on it and pressing "Property"

2. Click on launch option, put in "-sfm_resolution -w [Your Resolution] -h [Your Resolution]" "-sfm_guardband 0"

3. Next, I will use Nvidia as an example since I only have a Nvidia card. I have read that it was caused by Intel HD graphics. So the easy way to fix it is to do the following.

4. Open your graphics control panel, if you have a Nvidia card, it should look like this.

5. Go to the Manage 3D settings panel.

6. Change the setting from Auto-Select to High performance Nvidia processor.

That should be it! Enjoy!

Chris

This only fixed the poor quality, but the line is still there.

Same here. It's a pretty big problem, because it basically makes SFM useless.

Yeah...I have Intel, and although there a "Driver Memory Footprint" There is no other similar option, so I still have the problem.

This works for me, with the resolution, looks like we're both using the exact same computer. I didn't have the exact same problem, but it got rid of the resolution error message about rendering on start-up.
