I really want to play this game and would pay extra to have it on Steam
I am tired of CD's and more tired of the lack of upgrading and so on, so when I knew this game was on Steam I wanted to get it. However due to fiances around that time I couldn't buy it but since the game is "out of CD keys" it is no longer being sold here.
The idea of being out of keys is a little off to me since the entire set is digital and a simple patch would fix that. I find it hard for the makers of the game to not want to sell more and even if they are out of business now (I have no idea on this one, only guessing) someone somewhere would own the rights to the game. It makes no sence at all to not flat out just take money for a product that you already have made. Am I missing something, I truly want to play this game and have it on my Steam account, not CD/DVD base as I no longer buy games in a store or have any desire to fittle with them for a game any more. Thanks. I myself would gladly pay thirty dollars for it and I am sure others would as well. For an older game, this is ubsurd to not be flat out able to. |

Steam accepts registering retail CD keys for this game, so if you were able to find a copy to purchase that had an unused CD key, you could add the key and enjoy the game on Steam. It's apparently currently $4.29 from Amazon right now.

I guess if that was true it is still fine...I guess but I really would like to have the whole thing through Steam and not have to deal with the cds to begin with. However, to just get a key from outside Steam and install it through Steam, I guess I could do that but I don't understand why Steam would do this. |

Don't blame Steam, blame 2K, who simply didn't provide enough registration keys to the Steam service. I got my copy recently for $5 and it installed just fine through Steam.

From the "retail cd key faq"...
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...7480-WUSF-3601 Prey CD Keys in this format: AAB1BB2C345CDD6E E7 If it helps you any, I had installed the Prey Limited Collector's Edition before without Steam. Then I had read that it would accept the retail keys. I used it and it works. Gentle |

Now hoping to do that myself. Now, to scour the used market... (Heck, found a PS3 Limited of The Darkness II for $20, all materials in good condition and unredeemed).

Guy I'm buying from says it was his son's. Hoping he got into the game then dropped it (after all, it's amazing how many Club Nintendo codes haven't been used before). Even then, $7-8 ain't shabby for an LE with all its contents.
