Playing on Netbook?

I was wondering if anyone had any success running this on a netbook with a 1.6 ghz Atom and Intel GMA 945.

I know netbooks aren't for gaming, but the first Max Payne runs extremely well and, going by the store pages, has about the same specs as Caster.

In caster the game lags severely in the initial opening screens, as if its running at 1 or 2 fps. IS it too much to ask to run this on a netbook? I updated to the newest drivers from Intel and overclocked the CPU and GPU and saw no difference in performance, leading to me believe this game may use some shaders that the lousy onboard graphics doesn't have support for.

On a side note, is there a place where I can see the usable variable ranges for the settings.ini? Thanks so much.

Its also OpenGL. Intel are notoriously bad with it.

Yeah, Caster uses OpenGL 1.1 in an attempt to be more compatible with drivers like that... Looks like it doesn't matter how much work I do to get super sweet effects in fixed function, there is still some pretty poor support for OpenGL out there.

Sorry about all of this.

Next time I'm going to consider adding a Direct X engine for the Windows build of the game.

Will you still have an OpenGL option for the Windows build? I prefer it if possible :P

Or go old-school like GldSrc or UE 1.X, and allow the users to choose renderers

Thats odd

I have a netbook with similar specs, and the game runs great.

Acer aspire one, 1.6 ghz atom
Intel GMA950 video(Intel 945GSE chip-set)
1.5 Gigs of ram
XP SP3, 32 gig drive, no swap

It handles, in theory, up to open GL 1.4 and directX 9c.

It runs fine on my little-bitty netbook that can't even run Terraria, as long as I turn settings to low.
