Saints row 2 is in the current humble bundle, with other games for a good price.

In all honesty, nobody can tell you if you'll like it or not. You'll just have to buy it and see if you enjoy the gameplay and controls.

Some people (like me) will say GTA is a million times better and more entertaining...

For me personally, I bought it cause it looked fun. Ended up uninstalling because the controls (and especially the car handling) was just way too poorly done. Made it more frustrating than enjoyable. - Ironically enough this is pretty much exactly what people who like SR say about GTA...

Depends on your rig. SR2 is a very bad port and most likely won't run properly on lower end systems.

Get SR3. Much better graphics wise. Gameplay wise, Sr3 and SR2 both easily win over GTA4.

SR2 was still trying to be serious right? This was before the devs went insane?

Which is the worst port?

Saint's Row 2 is unplayable, don't even bother with it.

Saints Row 2 already has a lot of "whacky" elements like the crazy character creator and missions in which you would spray buildings with feces. They definitely veered heavily towards the San Andreas-style of GTA and went even further in a lot of places I would argue.

Nevertheless, the storyline is still grounded in the typical street crime tropes and could be rather serious at times. Bonkers, yes, but you are right. They were not quite there yet.

Btw, the PC port has it's problems, but it's playable if you are willing to put up with some fiddling.

The Port for the 2nd game is messy. Personally, the third game looks much better (haven't played that one, but yea.. I hear it's better overall).

You're just going to have to go with your instincts. Look up gameplay, etc and make a judgement on whether or not the game is worth your time.

SR2 may be a really good game. But the PC port is most certainly one of the worst ports to have ever been put on the market. Don't waste time on it. Even after getting as near to the correct CPU timing as possible with Powertools, and applying the GotR mod, etc., then game is still prone to crashing at least once every 30 mins, if not sooner.

If you want to get SR2, just save yourself the hassle and get it on a console if possible. It's a far better experience on those.

Yes, the CPU timing issue was ridiculous. I tried to tweak the game but it still wasn't right and I gave up in the end. A shame, as it's a really fun game and I prefer the (slightly) less bonkers approach too.

Am I the only one who never had a performance issue with Saints 2?

SR2 is imo. Not worth getting, can not come close to being compareable to Gta 4.
