That's not a W7 problem bro. I got that with vista.
When I enable SLI, I crash when I try to open CSS. It gets to the menu screen then I get a not responding error. I don't wanna turn SLI off, and I have the most up-to-date nvidia drivers. Any ideas? |

you also forgot the crash on load with desktop composition on with dual monitors this one issue is annoying me so much ! it actually fixed itself but i had to reinstall win7 to goto pro from ultimate and it came back and i dont know how i accidentally fixed it the first time lol. but its not drivers so dont say it and it happened to both ATI and Nvidia consumers so its got something to do with win7 cause as i understand it vista doesn't have this bug
compat mode doesn't work either, except winXP modes make it load but menu isnt visible never mind i fixed it turns out setting compat mode for steam and just ticking run as administrator fixes the issue Last edited by noobdeagle : 11-09-2009 at 07:12 PM. |

Did not know this was an issue? Before using win7 and new drivers the resolution would stretch to fit my widescreen and show the game incorrectly but now with the black borders like watching normal non HD channel on a HD tv the aspect looks correct. To me this works perfectly as intended.

What makes you think any of these issues are specific to Windows 7?
1) Clearly a driver issue. I didn't have this issue with either an Nvidia 9600GT or an ATI HD5850 with latest drivers on Win 7 x64. Default settings should yield proper fullscreen scaling at any resolution. 2) Definitely sounds like a driver issue. Try ctrl-tab'ing out of the game and then go back in. Should fix the issue. 3) I don't know why you think this is a Windows 7 issue. You're running on a very slow CPU that almost certainly is bottlenecking your GPU and then max out AA settings. Not surprising. On my Core i7 860 @ 3.7 Ghz and ATI HD5850 I get 300 FPS constant at 1920x1200, max settings, 8x MSAA, 16xAF. No frame drops. With a 9600GT I was getting 100-120 FPS with the same settings. Your GPU is the bottleneck. Upgrade your CPU and your problems will go away. I know Windows 7 is new but you can't attribute every problem to it. It has been a very stable OS for me. Most problems are related to driver issues, and in many cases the drivers for Windows 7 are the same used on Vista. As always, update to the latest drivers and revert to default settings. I know that changing the Nvidia settings can massively decrease performance (by 75-80%!). Revert to default and try again. Forcing AA in the Nvidia settings, for example, definitely can explain your issue. When you do that, the GPU has to bruteforce anti-alias the entire screen whereas in-game AA is much more intelligent and therefore uses less resources. Use in-game AA unless the game does not include the option (e.g. HL1, CS 1.6). |
