CSS too dark in Windows Vista

Dears,

I installed Vista and the new drivers from nvidia for my 8800 GTS, but it seems that the Brightness control from the NVidia Control Panel does not increase the CSS brightness in game, only in the desktop.

In Windows XP, this problem didn't occur. The brightness control from NVidia Control Panel works on CSS in game and also in the desktop.

ps: I already ajusted to max the CSS brightness in options>video

Thanks in advance,

Cruiser

If I adjust Gamma AND brightness in the Nvidia Control Panel, they do not increase the CSS Gamma and Brightness in-games, only in the desktop.

For you have an idea, I put the gamma and the brightness in 100%, applied, my desktop became VERY light, but when I start the CSS I can see no changes ingame at all.

I must say also that it is possible to play CSS, but in the dark areas it is hard to see.

When I was using XP, I increase the brightness in 20% that was enough to correct the visibility, but in the Vista this seems to be impossible.

Can you show me some screenshots of the dark spots, so I can compare it to my monitor?

Vista uses a different method of controlling system settings versus game settings (like sound). You could check your control panel to see if there is an option to adjust in-game gamma and brightness via your nVida driver.

Download "powerstrip" so you can change the gamma and brightness and anything else in-game, using simple key combos.

nope

hey there,

your problem is similar to me. i set up vista today and started playing.
i was using a programm called gammacontrol.exe to increase my gamma / brightness ingame. since i'm using vista, it works only for my desktop...no changes ingame. same for other programms like powerstrip, darkforce(or something) and gammacontrol. also changing the settings in the nvidia control panel didnt work.

everything works for my desktop, but ingame no changes...

thanks for help...

When using the nVidia control panel, are you sure you're changing settings that effect your programs and not just the desktop settings?

I don't know what to tell you then. I have a 8600GT and run Vista and I had the same issues you have, but tweaking settings on the nvidia control panel fixed my darkness issues.

Works well, except that you can only run it for like 3 months.
