Lydia got cold feet?
I just married Lydia... she said "I do"... and then walked out of my life forever. Or did she?
Seriously though, the second the ceremony was over she walked out the door to the temple, never to be seen again. I have tried looking for her at my house in Whiterun, in Dragonsreach, back in Riften... what gives? Thanks. |

I'm embarrassed to say she was in my home in Whiterun after all. I hadnt spent much time there and didnt see the tiny bedroom to the left at the top of the stairs. She as tucked away in there.
![]() Thanks for the help. Now the question is... to stay married to her or load up an earlier save. I have no idea who to marry. She is pretty hawt so I went with her but is that a good choice? |

The benefits of marriage is to have home cooked meals, a convenient vendor, and "lover's rest". In this regard all spouses are identical (with some minor differences if you marry someone who is already a vendor). Marrying your follower or housecarl is perfectly fine, but doesn't provide any special benefits other than eliminating an extra person wandering through your house. So find someone who is reasonably pleasing to look at and shack up. Every choice is as good as another.

Same thing happened to me with ysolda, weird glitch. I just loaded from before the ceremony took place and tried again. It worked!

Yeah, when I married Lydia, she dropped her armor, and ditched me at the altar. I followed her outside the temple, and she had completely vanished. I went back to Whiterun and she wasn't in Breezehome. Eventually, I wised up to the teleport trick. Well, when I teleported to her, I teleported straight into fight she has picked with an Elder Dragon. Finally after killing the Dragon I went after her, and she finally acknowledged the marriage, said we should find a place to live together etc. Then she was like "see ya". I was like..."uhm, how about you follow me and swear to carry my burdens?" And she said okay.

There is a known bug in that spouses immediately leave the wedding, and become hard to find as soon as they leave the temple. But wait a day. What's happening is that they are walking home, and that takes a while, longer than fast traveling to your/their house to see where they are.
You can verify this on Aela, as you can track her movements with the "talk to companions" quest. |

When Skyrim was released this was a problem, what was figured out (not by me) is you must talk to your new bride before she gets out of the temple. Some brides have their own house and you can choose to move in with them or they move in with you, if you can not find your bride check at their house, there waiting for you to come and tell them what to do -- old info but may still may be valid.
