Kane & Lynch 2 - Crashing at startup after I hit 'enter' - Page 2

I can confirm that using the steam beta client does not solve this problem either.

I have the same problem. The game crashes somewhere on the page where you choose what kind of game you want to start. With the Steam Client in online mode, it will not run. When I switch to offline mode, the game runs fine.

Hey Turjan - file a support ticket with Steam. We need as many people as possible to bring this issue to Steam's attention. They don't seem to think it's a Steam issue (when it clearly is)

Just because it reacts to Steam doesn't make it a Steam issue. It can be anything from drivers to hardware.

Also Steamworks implementation is developer's job and if it has problems they are the ones to solve it. Steam staff can't change the game, only original developers can as far as I know. Steam only releases it.

I tend to disagree there , its a steam issue because the game runs 100% in steam offline mode, the only common things with all our problems is steam and the game , with the game been ruled out its Steam that is left , steam.exe is doing something when launching kl2.exe that kl2.exe doesn't like , I have logged an ongoing support ticket with steam.

HI All,

I have been sent this sugestion by a freind

I've had somewhat of a development on this front. Just for fun, I verified the Kane & Lynch game files via Steam, and re-ran the setup (I had done this countless times and didn't expect it to work, but I was like what the hell...)

anyway, I set all settings to low.... no shadows, no AA, no AF, in the native 1920x1080 resolution with vsync. I fired up Kane & Lynch and suprisingly it works now. I'm not getting any crashes and was able to play online co-op last night with a friend.

anyway, I'm trying to reproduce my steps as to what I did to fix this. I'm not entire sure what happened, but Kane & Lynch 2 does work now.

Please try it and let me know ?

Hi all,

Thanks for that , I have had reply from steam asking me to do a few things and try a few things, but when I do that they come back and say sorry we can no longer offer you assistance. I think Steam should offer every one cs:go or a game for the same value or a refund for the games and dlc that people have spent their hard earned money on.

I will carry on with Steam and go as far as I can go with them , they are not going to pull a fast one on us

Guys, I really hate to tell you this - but I just got word back from someone over at the IOInteractive team. He basically told me that the Kane & Lynch 2 team has been moved to other projects and that they were basically not able to release any kind of fixes or patches.

Basically the ball is in Steam's court.... and from my interactions with them, they seem unlikely to do anything.

All I can say is I managed to fix my crashing problems by 1) Uninstalling Kane & Lynch 2 and 2) Running the setup over and over and over until it cleared itself up. I realize this isn't a great solution, but I did manage to get Kane & Lynch 2 working on my system again.

I'm trying to reproduce what exactly I did to get it working again, but to be honest I wasn't expecting it to work at all. I just uninstalled and reinstalled Kane & Lynch 2 and it randomly started working. I dunno what happened.
