Same... Just got it, installed, checked data was ok, but nothing happens... Just stays on desktop.
If I find a solution, I'll post. |

Ok, download these two files:
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dl...shtml?d3dx9_37 http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dl...html?msidcrl40 And place them in your QoS Folder under steam. Mine was: ...Steam\steamapps\common\quantum of solace\ The game runs now... Bit daft you have to do that but hey ho... |

Wow I can’t believe that really fixed it'
The website to get the DLL Files from was a little tricky; as in having a lot of distracting places to click on' (sort of like tip toeing through a field full of land mines or maybe dog poops). Just look around and carefully read and you will click on the right place to get the proper DLL File download. |

Links seems broken but this issue could be solved downloading the latest DirectX 9 files from Microsoft.
Some games from 2008/2009 were made to use DX 9 and some libraries are not present on Vista/W7 (they use DX 10 or 11). |

The direct link timed out' I guess they want you to tip toe through land mines.
But still you can find and get the DLL files, but Microsoft must have found out it would fix the game so XP users could play it. Looks like Microsoft broke the game again' Games for Windows Live Sucks! I don't think I will buy anymore Games that need Games for Windows Live' |

You can also install it on Windows 7 and it will not need any of those DLL file "fixes" (placing older DX9 files in game directories). Ran it without any issues from autoupdate version of Win7 pro.

Well its not that hard, scroll down a bit there is a box that reads "free download" on the right hand side. click the link in that box you will then see a window come up and then you click the files name thats just below the pay pal link then it will ask you to save the file.
Now you don't have to hunt for it. Edit: forgot to mention use the links that o'dium gave. Didn't expect the links I put down directly to it to die over time. Windows Live isen't the problem first time I have had an issuie like this so I guess Steam are missing those 2 files or Treyarch messed up somewhere. FYI, I just purchased the game the other day and it runs fine from day one, I am on Windows 7 64bit. I did notice it runs a directx setup while 'installing' so maybe Steam have fixed the problem?

This problems seems to be for Windows XP only. It seems the newer OS's dont have this problem. I had the same problem with my XP setup and QoS.
