Xaelon, try pressing Q and see if your view changes.
Yes, that worked. Thanks for the quick response! Now to go back and play through the game with the alternate view.

Keep us posted on what you have in store for us. I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd like another chapter or two to play through.

So why exactly is 3rd person locked? Why was the decision made to make a player beat the game before we can enjoy this mode? Personally, all I want to do is play it in the 3rd person mode, the top down is not nearly as fun I would imagine. Is there a way to unlock this mode without beating the whole game first? Maybe a way to alter the config file?

Well, the game was never meant to have that mode. It was something we tried before the release and added as unlockable easter egg. Player was imagined beating the game with top-down view, and replaying it in the third-person view. I think if the game is fun, it's fun in either view. If you didn't like it, then you won't like it no mater what we add or unlock.

There is a way to "hack" it - edit your profile. In you My Games\steelstorm\gamedata\data\profiles\ find you *.profile file and edit it. Find a line "campaign" and add "unlocked FPSCAM" after it (no ""). The campaign line might be long and might take a couple of lines in the file. It contains all names of the Challenges and weapons you have earned throughout the game. Make sure you don't break that line. DISCLAIMER: If you break your profile and loose your progress, you are on your own. Don't blame me or Kot-in-Action for the broken profile and lost progress

Would you tell me please what exactly you didn't have fun playing the game in top-down mode? What did you imagine when you purchased it? (the videos can not be any clearer about how the game is played and what to expect).

If it makes any difference for you, check out Steel Storm WIKI at http://www.steel-storm.com/mwiki/index.php/Main_Page

the FPS cam doesnt seem to be exactly complete, though. you can see enemies outside your firing range, and all models are too flat. with that fixed, FPS cam should look much better. (also, if you have triggers to enable FPS cam, you can use the same trigger to have achievements)

I noticed you complain too much As I said, TPS (not FPS) camera was an afterthought. The models are optimized for top-down view, so yeah, they will look odd in TPS view. And that will never be "fixed", because there is nothing to fix. Might as well simply continue working on SS2, which is FPS game. But then you will complain that there is no top-down view :P

And yes, that's what "hack" mean. You can hack crap out the *.profile and get all challenges and weapons and unlock all levels. What fun is that however? No fun at all. Plus you will most likely break your profile and start from the very beginning

There is also "God" mode, but I'll let people find it on their own (HINT: play Quake or learn about its cheats)

sorry, i just like this game, and dont want it to get dropped, because that would be a waste of a great idea. (take for example, "you are the road" game)

Well, I personally am happy with third person view, because thanks to it, I don't have to shoot without seeing where I'm shooting. My only complaint so far is that one map, it's named sslevel02 if I'm not wrong, don't have the sky, which looks weird if you switch to third person in its outdoor area with sunlight.

Well, games' life span is extended with DLC (used to be mission packs), not with going back and trying to fix what wasn't meant to be

Plus Steel Storm 2 will be FPS, so you will enjoy that instead of TPS mode in SS:BR
