UPDATED 2/22: Nvidia BETA drivers 295.51 and/or PhysX 9.11.1111

UPDATE 2/22/2012:

The new Nvidia driver 295.73 has fixed issues for some users, and is not a beta version.

UPDATE 2/20/2012:

If you installed NVidia Beta drivers 295.51, then you automatically installed PhysX version 9.11.1111 or 9.12.0203, both of which broke something when trying to run SOL: Exodus. I have confirmed that 9.11.1111 broke this game, as well as Rock of Ages and Alice: Madness Returns.

The last known working version of PhysX (at least that SOL: Exodus is compatible with) is 9.11.0621, which can be found here:

http://downloads.guru3d.com/nVIDIA-P...load-2762.html

The 9.11.1111 version, and the more recent 9.12.0203, do not work with the game. The latest fixed some games that broke, like Alice: Madness Returns, but apparently does not fix all the issues created by 9.11.1111.

It is unnecessary to roll back the video card driver itself to correct this problem.

Updated with confirmed PhysX 9.11.1111 issue.

The last known working version of PhysX for SOL: Exodus is 9.11.0621. We are not the only game broken by the latest version, and hopefully Nvidia will have a fix for it soon.

9.11.1107 works here: http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/physx...07-driver.html

I've also just launched successfully on 9.12.0209 (in the latest stable WHQL drivers release).

Hey Kelius! The NVIDIA 295.73 you mentioned is not a beta it's the actual WHQL driver. I can confirm that there are no problems anymore, tested with XP SP3 and Vista SP2 64 bit.

Regards.

I was looking forward to playing this game. However, as many other users have experienced, I get a black screen after the splash screen, and that's it. I have PhysX 9.12.0213 driver installed.

Instead of asking people to roll back their driver, it would seem a better course of action for the developer to roll up an update to fix this problem.

From the update history, it seems like a lot of work has gone into addressing a number of problems that earned this game a kinda low metacritic rating. Beyond bug fixing, the developer added a number of features to enhance the game. It's a shame that players who have updated their Nvidia drivers are prevented from playing it. As it stands now, the game will be broken for many players.

Until this is fixed, I would advise potential players to check and see what PhysX driver they installed. (Just bring up your Uninstall Programs list and scroll down to Nvidia PhysX, which will have the version no. If you have 9.11.1111 and later, you might want to withhold buying until this is fixed.
