So...how is this game?
I played ceasar 3 and the egypt one, also sim city 4. How does it compare? Better stay away? worth it?

It's more than worth it when you figure out how the game flow works.
It's a little bit like Caesar, but people can walk anywhere, although it has a different "feel" to Caesar. It's like a more realistic update of that game. The key to "getting" the game is understanding how educated workers are created and used. For example, priests/scribes need to be educated. You can only have a limited number of these workers, so choose their jobs carefully. You can build pyramids/statues to raise your prestige, to get more educated workers. This is the part that's better than Caesar. They will build the pyramids brick-by-brick. You also harvest all the resources in the same way as in Caesar/Pharaoh. |

I had this game years ago nirvanasource but forgot how to play it. Recently, I loaded it up but sat there wondering what the heck I was suppose to do. If I remember right most scenarios depend on the crop harvest to fuel your empire so your peps dont get hungrey and protest. But the game is slow to get anywhere if I remember right. I know you can fast forward time though. And trade how does that work? Would you suggest a sandbox scenario to start? And if I can remember right isn't a brick house and stone quarry needed to build most structures?

Food is money, so always build near-max farmers allowed. You won't have a food problem. Each Noble lets you build a certain amount of farmers. I would start roughly with these buildings (you can do some of this on Pause):
20 farms near water 4/6 Nobles Palace near Nobles (remember to upgrade when you have resources) 4 Common shops near farms, another 4 near Nobles. 4 Luxury shops near Nobles. You'll need more of these as you grow. A few bakeries near farms and nobles. Granary. 4/5 Brickmakers/6 Bricklayers/2 Papyrus. You will need tons of Brickmakers in the end. School near nobles, with 1 Priest educating. Another Priest tending gods (when priest trains another graduate). This means you'll need shrines too. Layouts can be fluid. My "building plan" normally ends up like this (from top to bottom). It's roughly Top (rich people), Middle (religion), Bottom (farmers/industry). Palace/burial tombs/pyramids at the top 6 Nobles ------------------- Entertainer/Servants Baker/Common & Lux shops School Hospital ------------------- Priest houses - Normally start with 1 educating students, and 1 tending gods. 14 shrines ------------------- Scribes/Apothecary/Mortuary ------------------- Papyrus Mills/Brickmaker/Bricklayers/Brick Storage/Weapons Workshops/Stone Carvers ------------------- Bakers/Common Shops/Granary ------------------- Farms near water Here's an ugly one I made. I've only just start playing again a few days ago. http://i.imgur.com/naIOH.jpg You will have to place Overseers/Labourers somewhere too. Trade by building at least a few barge landings and cargo drop-off points. Then open routes using the world map. You'll have to spend food/papyrus normally. Easy prestige is to build a large tomb early, and dedicate it to your Pharaoh, but building from low-high is more impressive for your people (building a large statue then a small one after will not get as much prestige as building a small one first). Very lttp, but GoG currently has a sale on both Pharaoh and Zeus. Excellent citybuilding games. Grab both while you're at it.
