Incredible problem with lag

Hi. Whenever I connect to any server, for the first half a minute or so, it's perfectly fine. No lag, no nothing. Then, after a little bit, I start lagging like I was playing at the center of the Earth. I always check out my ping whenever I lag, but it always stays constantly in the 20s. My ping is low, but I keep lagging like effing CRAZY. The lag isn't the only thing getting crazy here. I need help!

I'm getting the same issue. I play on any server, even ones where I normally get less than 20 ping consistently, I'll be up near 200 ping and spike up to 300 and 400 and sit there for a few minutes. It's not me, I checked other games, speedtest and pingtest and got very low latency, even with servers in Florida. By low, I mean <80.

I'm hoping that this will be resolved by tomorrow because the game is literally unplayable right now.

Try allow hl2.exe through on all firewalls.

I had this problem too, where the game would have a lot of "spike lag" though my ping would just be fine. Sounds would also skip alot, and many other weird issues.
I had to verify the game cache and that fixed everything. Try that.

I'm having these lag spikes as well. Tried the firewall thing, but it still randomly spikes during the game on a local server.
