What is next in the CS world?

I haven't been keeping up on CS news, I guess that is because I haven't seen any in years.

Anyone know if anything is planned in the world of CS? Anything new coming out in the future?

I think it would be foolish to let a very big name in the gaming industry just die out, I don't see how it would not be profitable to develop a sequel or something.

Nothing has been announced. Not even an update for CSS never mind a new game or anything.

omg, no new version to buy, with money - no winfall of cash for valve? no piggiebacks off a game that was originally a free mod anyway... but however will it continue being a good game?

the mind boggles

I was still hoping for a a large update to try and solve most of the issues that still plague counter strike source. I just really hate when a company just stops supporting a game.........

I think it is understandable that eventually a company stops supporting a game, especially one like CS that has been out so long. The only difference with CS is that it has retained so many players for so long and it is such a popular name in the shooter industry, Valve should be capitalizing on it. We should be on CS 3 or CS 4 by now.

There must be some legal reasons why nothing is proceeding, it just doesn't make sense, it could be so profitable.

The game still has some of the best game play out there - it is better than any other shooter IMO, strictly speaking of gameplay. But it needs more models, tons more maps, more weapons, etc. The game engine is just fine, maybe could use some slight tweaks.

Well, Valve needs to sustain itself, and so they will have to come up with new titles and get more noticed out there as a company. But I do think they have rode on the backs of CS 1.6, the HL series and CS:S for too long now. We need an update, or as you said, new versions of CS. I mean it's 2009, we should be at CS 3 or 4 now! 3 releases since 2003 with 1 being a slightly different version with addons and upgrades shouldn't exactly be something Valve is proud of, they could have made much more money with more versions.

I do agree it needs better gameplay and more maps also.

I don't see a reason for any legal problems setting them back, as they now own the full rights to Counter-Strike after buying it off of Gooseman and LeCliffe way back when.

Counter-Strike 2
As we can see valve only revolved that project like that exists. However I'm 100% sure that if they wont make gameplay like 1.6 and best graphics they can create - it will be a huge fail.

No, really look. What CS versions already exist?
1. CS1.6 (is famous for the perfect gameplay)
2. CSS (is famous for fantastic graphics).

So in order to blast Counter-Strike 2 up to #1 game in the world they only have to combine this two things. And you can be sure that if they wont do it - this game will become an epic fail what will be as popular as Condition-Zero (no offense CZ fans).

In conclusion this game will be or world-wide hit like it was when first Counter-Strike version was released (it will higher cells of all series of Counter-Strike and it will stay like that for more than 5 year). Or it will be a shame to all Counter-Strike series (what definitely will lower number of people who are buying this games [however yes - first two three months it will be #1 celled game in the world, but later all Counter-Strike stats will fall down hard]).

Only thing what we (the community) can do is hope for the best.

---

Now are news like that good enough for you?
