Post Technical problems? Look here!

If you're having issues with the game, the best place to look for support is our:

Official Tech Support Forum
(link)

If you post there you'll get help directly from our devs, who are both recommending work-arounds and preparing fixes for the first patch.

"But I already came to this forum for help!" you say. Fair enough, here are some known fixes for you.

In the Properties dialog, click the 'Set launch options...' button. In the dialog, type 'SAFEMODE=1' Then launch the game normally and it should start up with a safe set of options. Once the game loads, you will be able to adjust your options, BUT You will need to remove the 'SAFEMODE=1' parameter from Steam before running the game again or it will just reset your options again.

However, if that doesn't work, I have a handy console command we can enable for you. You can 'ascend' a floor ( which will NOT mark you as a cheater ), and that should get you out.

From start->run

%appdata%

and press enter

Then browse to runic games\torchlight
there should be a settings.txt file in there

change
Console :0

to

Console :1

Now, when you load your character, hold SHIFT and press the ~ key
a console should come up -
type ASCEND and press return
that should pop you up a level and hopefully you should be un-stuck.

Hey, I need help with torchlight. The shoulder and head equipment are glitching out very badly, weird colors and everything. I have unistalled the game many times, I have stopped running background programs, I have tried most everything and Still my equipment is glitching out. It looks terrible, I can’t play with it like that. Anything I could do?

WRT the new Steamcloud patch.

First, the long load times with mods problem is back for me.

UPDATE: The load problem was not Torchlights fault, it turned out to be a problem with Fences Pro from Stardock sucking .....up 50% CPU.

Second, Not a bug, more like maybe an oversight? it seems it does not sync mods, which still forces one to sync the mod folder using some other method (dropbox, mesh, shares, etc) when/if one adds or updates mods to one PC.

Hi, i bought the game yesterday and have got some heavy stutters after i've fought a bunch of enemies and the problem makes the game unplayable. As i had no problem with demo and above all, the problem is solved by just running steam in disconnected mode (with the message when i launche game telling me i can't reach the cloud). So i guess the cloud is in fault. Is there a way to desactivate cloud support within the game since the game is patched?
Thanks and great job anyway, things like this happen.
NB: found other people with the very sme problem on this forum.

spec :
Q9550@3,7
4870X2
Gigabyte UD3p
windows 7 home 64bits

My game keeps crashing at lvl 34 where I fight Alric, first time ever game has crashed and it's happened 3 times in a row now. Crap. I've also noticed stuttering and freezing after the recent updates. Everything was fine with 1.12

Spec:

P4 3.0
3 GB Ram
XP Media Center Ed SP3
ATi 4670 512 MB (latest driver)

Same here. Repeatable crash at this same spot. The game freezes and after a few seconds I'm back at the windows dektop. I haven't been at this spot in the game before the update, so I don't know if I can blame it for this.

My system configuration: Q9450 @ 2.66 GHz, 8GB RAM, Windows 7 64 bit, Ati Radeon 4870.

Me neither. It crashes every time I go there.

Make sure you post this stuff to the official board as well (I have), as I doubt they even look here anymore.

Not sure if it's related but I thought I saw the windows error saying something about 'mod'...so I said what the hell and DL'd the mod tools for the game...the game didn't crash so I guess for whatever reason, it worked.

I can't download it at all. Keeps telling me the servers are to busy to perform my request. I can download any of my other games with no trouble though.
