ok, till now still doesn't working, "game is always f***ing UNAVAILABLE" with any server

I just can't open the game, I double click, it launches the frame that says torchlight and has some people there and then the process shuts down itself and it says "FAILED GAME CREATION", what the hell is that? And most important, how can I fix it?

I use a 1080p 60Hz 32" Samsung LCDTV as a monitor. First when I launched the game there seemed to be some problem with the frequency and nothing would show up on the screen.

So I try starting again and now it's stuck on 'minimize'

I have i5 750, HD5850 and currently running Windows 7 64 bit

Edit: Oh and the audio seems to work fine, I hear some chain rattling and dog growling

Edit 2:After restarting thrice it has suddenly started working

I downloaded Torchlight today - it downloaded and installed fine. I launch it and it starts up fine. First thing I do is change the res to 1280x720 and Enable VSync. The game restarts itself and immediately crashes. Now it crashes every time I try to start it up.

I'm guessing the VSync is what is causing it to crash. I always enable VSync in my games and have never run into this problem before. I also run all my games at 1280 x 720 (my comp is hooked up to a 720p TV) and have had no issues with that before.

I am running a q9300 w/gt8800.

If nothing else is there at least a file I can delete to bring it back to its default settings?

By the way, my torchlight game is still "unavailable at the moment", but this moment lasts for almost 4 days...i changed zillions of servers, but nothing changes.

So, i paid 7.99 for my torchlight (and today is 3.99 grrrrr) and i'm not able to play anymore, maybe i'm "really" upset.

And the support line doesn't answer....uff.

Have you tried a complete repair of Steam?

In Steam, delete all local content for torchlight, then go into the Steam\steamapps\common folder and make sure there is no \torchlight folder (if there is delete it) then check Steam\steamapps and make sure there is no "torchlight content.ncf" (if it's there, delete it) file, then exit Steam, go into your Steam folder and delete everything EXCEPT Steam.exe and the steamapps folder, do not delete those 2, then restart Steam, reinstall torchlight, and cross your fingers.

I missed that - thanks! I tried putting the SAFEMODE=1 parameter in. Now I get the splash screen then it crashes which I guess is a bit of an improvement but it still won't launch. Oh well I will try to uninstall it then reinstall it.

Remember, do not delete Steam.exe or steamapps folder, keep those.

I unistalled it from Steam then redownloaded it - all is well now! Thanks for the help!

glad to know it! remember to cancel the safemode if it's still entered!

thanks damaged, i erased all you said, but steam now is syncronizing trochlight and fallout, i cross my finger all works fine (and fallout too )

Make sure you let us know, good or bad.

P.S. You may want to delete %appdata%\runic games too, if it fails still.

yup, it's failed again

maybe now i will retry to cancel also that hidden folder you suggest me, but the reinstalling of steam has caused che new download of the fallout goty...sigh sigh!

now i gotta go, but this night i will retry..no rest for the wickers! torchlight will be mine again somehow
