Voice Acting Glitch in Episode 2: Need help.

Half Life 2? No issues at all.

Episode 1? Some occasional stuttering, but it was fixed.

Episode 2? Started off fine...until I got to the antlion cave. This is where it gets weird. All the story heavy dialogue, or in this case, the two soldiers who were talking about the situation were completely mute. I had the subtitles on, so I knew what they were saying, but absolutely no audio played from them. Their lips did not move. Their hands moved. They were just quiet.

BUT....their audio kicks in when they are making pain noises and/or offering me a medkit. This carried on till when the Vortigants came to the rescue, but even they were mute. Except for, again, the one vortigant who was coherent when it came to attacks and everything else.

All other sounds are PERFECTLY fine, it's just there is no audio for when they are talking about story-based things. I want to beat the game, but I think you can see why I am in no hurry to do so when the voices add a degree of immersion that I feel is necessary for me to continue.

Any help at all is appreciated.

Isn't this that old audio bug we got on release?

I think the way I fixed it was going to Steam. And changing the language of EP2 to German. Close Steam and restart it. Then change the language back to English and play and see if it does anything.

I actually had to switch it to Russian, but it's now working. Thanks bud.

Did you try changing your language setting?
