Win7: Can't see my cursor in-game?
I'm not sure if it's a problem with this computer, or if it's Windows 7.
Whenever I load up any of my Source games [css, l4d, tf2, gmod, etc], my cursor goes invisible and I have to rely on words lighting up to navigate menus, which is very irritating. Interestingly enough, though, all of my non-source games [cod4, killing floor, mirror's edge, etc] have perfectly working cursors without any problem. The cursor showed up fine on my source games when I had Vista and XP, but this problem started occurring the instant I switched to Windows 7. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this disappearing cursor a problem with my computer, or is there some kind of issue between Source and Windows 7? I can post my computer specs if needed. |

Go to the control panel, select mouse options. Try enabling the option box "Show location of the pointer when I press the CTRL key" - it's on the Pointer Options tab. See if the pointer flashes when you press it..This might be able to help you look in the right direction.
You might also want to disable the "Hide pointer when typing" box in the same tab. Other than that, try defragging and verifying the caches, try the -32bit switch, try -autoconfig...and look around here for similar generic steam/source fixes. Worst case, try picking a game with a relatively small download size, delete it, then see if reinstalling fixes it. Posting system specs might be necessary, but could help. Sorry for the poorly assembled post, I hope you can glean something from it

I once had this. Reinstalling Windows fixed it.

Oh. I feel like such an idiot now.
Apparently it turns out if you have mouse trails on, source games have no cursor. So I turned off trails, and voila... :x Well that should help you then, Ulti00. |
