My graphics card

Heya

I'm currently using a Nvinida 7100 GeForce Intergated and I'm wanting to play games such as TF2 and L4D/L4D2 and better FPS rates.

I'm not sure which GFX card I should buy with my computer because of sizes etc.

If you could give me hand with picking, it would useful

Hmm, without knowing what PSU that case has, I guess a 250 or 260, if you choose ATi, then a 4670 or a 5770.

Yes, but I would go for the 5770 since it has DX11 and is faster.

It's a Refurbished Unit, am sure it would had a PSU upgrade, but it might be best if he contacts PC World if thats where he brought it from.

It is an "s" so I assume it is a slim line case. Which means that you can try to put a low profile or half height video card. This narrows things. Just as the power supply that is in their will limit your choices. You would have to tell us what the specification are of your power supply to be sure what kind of upgrade may be possible. We need to know what the number of amps are available on the 12v rail or rails. Also, I note you are not in the US, so I will show you some cards from Newegg that might work, but you will have to find them in your country.

I suppose the Geforce 200 series low profile cards might work too.

Like I said, we can't narrow it done for sure which one is right for system until we get your PSU specs.

I would also like to know for sure what kind of slot you have open on your motherboard.

Update if you only have a 180W PSU then you choice will be really limited. Open your case and tell us the numbers associated with the 12v rail. You may need to get a PSU replacement/upgrade. If so you have to find one that fits your case. They are out there, but we need your specs and make and model of your PSU.

This is available at the PC World near me so I'm probably going to get this.

That's just under my spending limit.

Both the 250 and 260 shouldn't be bought, the 250 is up there with the 4850, which is cheaper, and the 260 is just another improved card with bad performance : budget radio.

The 4670 should do fine, it doesn't not require an additional power source (Just fit into PCI-EX slot, it will work). The 4670 can handle all source games on high settings at native resolution, 1680x1050.

That card is probably not going to fit. You have a HP Pavilion Slimline s3714uk Desktop PC.

This means that you can't fit a full sized video card in the case.

Since there is a PCworld store near you check with them about what card will fit. You probably need a low profile card.

You still need to deal with your power supply. If you have a 180W power supply that probably won't work with a 4670 (even though it is supplied through the mobo) if it doesn't pull enough amps on the 12v rail. The 4670 is not a full size card, it's really small and I mean small, I have two of them in my computer, it should fit without any problems and if it can't, then good luck to him finding something that will because it is unlikey he ever find anything smaller then a 4670 and lasty the 4670 is a low profile card.

It's true about the power, 180watts is not enough.

I still recommend the 5770 since it's a medium range card with DX11, it allow him to play L4D1/2 and TF2 at max settings at high resolutions and gives him the option of playing DX11 games when they come availdable.

Through 4670 is still a great card, I use two myself.

Well, I'm going to go up to PC world once a get paid.

£115 is the limit I'm sticking to, I'm going to get the best one possible that will fit etc.

I'll probably go with the 4670 and if the power inst enough, I'll get them to add a power source as well (Included in the £115 hopefully)

But do check your case compatibility like Bulletbrain said. You might even have an micro ATX power supply, as normal ATX ones start from about 300 watts.

If your case is more than 10cm / 4 inches wide and has enough clearance below the PCIe x16 slot you may get the card in. But I'm worried your power supply may not fit.
