um thats partly because of your cpu too. in DX9 this game will take large advantage of quad cores. http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,7...rule/Practice/

Bah ...thats why people have different scores here...forgot...

Thats why people should label if they are running this bench in DX9 or DX11...

DX11 is vastly slower than the DX9 test...depending on the hardware..

its all listed in the link trek554(thanks for the link) provided..

And to truly kick in the new directx11 features in DIRT 2, you need to set:

Water - Ultra
Crowds - Ultra
Cloth - High

According to this article ( Dirt 2 DX11 Performance - ATI ) Ice put up a link too:

In the Dirt 2 demo, their was a 'Benchmark' option but I can't find it in the released game. Is it me or the option has been removed? It was useful for tuning graphics details.

I think that's erroneous to say that.

Comparing performance in DX9 vs DX11, it's more likely that in DX11, they face a GPU bottleneck and CPU usage remains similar.

yes when switching to DX11 the load becomes much more gpu bound. at the moment his cpu is bit of overkill while overclocked but it will support him upgrading to massive amounts of gpu power with no cpu limitations for quite sometime.

q6600 @ stock 2.4ghz
4gigs 800 mhz ddr2 ram
win 7 64x
5870 @ stock

average 41.1
low 34.4

all settings maxed, ultra,
8x msaa
1920x1200

is it just me, or am i getting ty performance? i'm seeing guys posting higher scores, above 60fps with a similar system setup to mine, is my cpu bottlenecking that much?

or is it possibly something else, should i reformat?

yes your cpu at just 2.4 is a pretty poor match with a card like the 5870. you really need to oc that cpu because you are not close to fully utilizing that 5870 in most modern games. you could have saved 100 bucks and gotten the identical performance with a 5850 as long as your cpu is stock.
