How to disable servers MOTD?

MOTD = message of the day

It makes me crash on all steam games I.E. l4d, l4d2, tf2, CSS

Dont ask me why it makes me crash, cuz if u dont know then you way behind me in researching what causes this. So just leave now. I need to disable the stupid servers MOTD! Dont respond if you say something stupid like....do u update ur drivers blah bla bla. If u dont know how to do this dont respond. Its a simple question and I want a simple answer.

You could try disabling the HTML MOTD in TF2. If that game doesn't crash anymore, you know that you have some problem with IE as Valve uses the Trident engine from Microsoft to render HTML content.

You can disable IE from being able to load web pages, however you also won't be able to download custom maps from servers that use sv_downloadurl (fast downloads).

The only other solution is to fix the problem. It is fixable, and if all else fails then I'm sure a good ol' reformat should take care of it.

How could you know for sure that there is a way to do it, if you don't know how?

Has it ever occurred to you that if all your searches have come out empty, maybe it's because there is no answer?

You could probably modify whatever .RES file is used to show the MOTD screen.

You asked people who dont know how to do it not to respond and landed up with an empty thread. So you bumped it. Would you rather go back to the empty thread?

You can't disable the MOTD. All you can do is disable IE from loading webpages, which still makes the MOTD pop up, but it will popup with a 404. The only way to disable the MOTD completely is server side, and since you just want it not to open when join you obviously don't have control of the servers you connect to.

For someone who "knows" you can do it, you should know how to do it if you could. But you don't, because you can't.

Like many have said, you cannot disable the motd unless you own the server.

Your attitude is one of someone that seems to not want help. If you didnt want people to post to help you, why did you make this thread?
