I sorted that one out, I now get the following, and am lost (first big compile I've ever done, VC++ 2008

[long string of dlls not necessary]
'regsvr32.exe': Loaded 'C:\Program Files\NetRatingsNetSight\NetSight\nsmmc.dll', Binary was not built with debug information.
The program '[1492] regsvr32.exe: Native' has exited with code 1 (0x1).

Sorry I've no idea. What's NetRatings got to do with RTCW?

Try installing http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/e...displaylang=en and see if my binary works (I built with 2010, not 2008).

Yeah, I've got no idea either, as the rest don't have anything to do with it either... removing 2008 and installing 2010 (for some reason, it won't over-write 2008 with 2010, so having to take the long way around...)

EDIT: Damn thing keeps opening with 2008, and I can't seem to find where 2010 was installed... ACK!

I just tested it on a spare XP 32bit machine, there are definitely no redistributable packages for 2010 installed and it works out of the box. Hmm ...

Sorry, when I meant the binary didn't work, I meant the link... it shows this message set.

This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

EDIT: Installing VCS 2010 Express, we'll see how that goes for compiling.

Okay, it turns out I had compiled it, and then associated my debugging with Regsvr32, which led to the current problem. I can confirm that this also works on my puter, with only really minor les which are more likely to do with my monitor than the patched product.

Now, as it is, rfc, I shall be writing a news article for Gamerfill singing your praises, but you will be a friend for life if you can tell me how the heck to stop VC 2008 using regsvr32 as my debugger (and which one to genuinely use!)

EDIT: Now, of course, I am still installing VCS 2010... when I don't actually need to. Bu-locks.

Seems I overestimated github, I moved the download to its original location, should work again now...

Sorry about the debugger problem, but I'm sure it's some registry key. You could start regedit and search for "Regsvr32" and see if you find something related to debugging.

Thanks, I'll take a look at that. Seeing as I'm going to write this article saying "fix for RTCW available here, thank monoid and mfn", you want me to change the "mfn" part?

Nice for asking No, just leave it as it is on github.

I am running Win XP 32 bit Sp3
did a fallback ATI install of "8-12_xp32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_72271.exe"
and RTCW started right up. Am guessing that later upgrades to Catalyst
may be problem. Video card Radeon 2600HD.

Yeah, one of the main problems is with later catalyst drivers, but I can report that rfc's fix (binary link on page 2 of the thread, and to be on Gamerfill on monday) does the job without irritating rollback. Further testing, is, of course, required, but it seems to do the job just fine.

Win XP SP3
Dual-core 2.4GHZ, 2GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 5600 Series, Catalyst 10.9

I am having the same problems: I can run multiplayer all right, but when I try loading up single player I get booted back to the desktop with an error saying something's gone wrong with WolfSP.exe. I've tried disabling Catalyst AI; I've tried rolling back the drivers (which I can only do so far anyway without messing up other things); I've tried making a wolf cfg file and tweaking all the settings I've read here. Nothing works.

I only bought RTCW for its single player mode. I love this game so much and it's heartbreaking to not be able to play it. I don't know about other ppl,. but I'd be willing to make some sort of donation to someone who wants to fanhack the code to make it work on newerr ATI (and other) cards?

Has anyone figured out hte problem yet...?
