Failed to install Steam

Hi.
I just recieved a gift, GTA4 from a Friend and i wanted to install it but it said there isnt enough space to install.
I have got 2 intern Harddisk's, one is 250GB where is operating system, and the other is for files(1TB) . At first
i moved the Steam files from C:Programs Steam to E:Users Moritz manually. Then i startet CSS to test if all was fine and it was ok. so i tried to install GTA4 and it didnt worked, it said not enough space. I was like WTF 1 TB isnt enough? So i decidet to deinstall steam and install it on E. Done. Then allways when steam want to update it says: Steam.exe (main exception): ERROR: deleted Steam.exe but the file is still there.

I tried to delete it manually but it didnt work.
I use win7 and i am the admin.

This happens if you move around installed things. Never do that.

To resolve it:

1. Delete all your steam folders from the old and the new location. Delete everything related to steam.

2. Delte all Valve registry keys with regedit

HKCU\Software\Valve
HKLM\Software\Valve
HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Valve

3. Use CCleaner, clean the registry and remove all leftover entries which may be stuck in 'programs and features'.

4. Use the Microsoft MSI clean tool and remove all remaining steam entries

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

5. Reboot your PC

6. Install Steam and all your games.

That's interesting. Did you clean everything?
Try logging into a different windows account (with admin rights) and install from there.

You should contact steam support. They know the installation procedure of steam better than me.

I'm sorry to say that steam support takes a few days to respond. You can't play it without steam, you can't even download it.

One more idea. You wrote you installed steam into your users folder (which is very unwise btw), so maybe the installer doesn't have write access there or something. I suggest you repeat the whole procedure I wrote above and after the reboot, install steam to "e:\steam", not inside the users folder. And make sure you run the installer with admin rights (right-click the msi file and select run as admin instead of double-clicking it).

Is UAC enabled on your system? If it is and you double-click the file, does windows ask for admin permission to execute it?
