Compatibility Mode permanently stuck on (checked and greyed out)
This morning I tried to run Steam, but I got the message that I shouldn't run it in compatibility mode.
I checked the setting and it's got Vista selected. However, the box and the selection menu are both greyed out. I cannot change the compatibility mode settings at all. Yesterday, Steam was fine and this wasn't a problem. This morning I'm having these problems. Steam is the only application having this problem. I am currently running Windows 7 64-bit. Anyone else have this issue? |

I just had this problem today and thought I woud say that this solution fixed the issue for me as well. I will post it below so others can find it easier on these forums.
Original post by ZeroHour at edugeek.net: Reinstalling steam made no difference as well as trying to set compatibility settings under the shortcut. I eventually had a go of the application compatibility tool microsoft gives out to see that the settings saved on the machines local database and that triggering when I ran steam. I had a hunt through the registry and found the area where the keys are kept and deleted the key and my problems were gone. |
