MP2 Changing language and language files

To change the language of the game, 2 files are needed for conversion between Western European languages[EN-FR-GE-IT-SP] and a 3rd one if you convert to or from Polish or Russian;

the two files always used are:
- MP2_(language).ras
- Movies/Previously.bik

the third file needed for conversion of CD install from Polish or Russian to Western European is (it contains the proper character set for these languages):
- MP2_Data.ras

Install
- Install the game, from cd or from steam.
- Rename your current MP2_(language).ras file to MP2_(language) without extension.
- Place the new language file in the main game directory.
- Rename Movies/Previously.bik to Movies/Previously without extension.
- Place the new movie file in the movies directory.
- Do the same for the MP2_Data.ras file if needed.
- Done

Uninstall
- Remove all files you installed and rename the originals back, with the proper extension.
- Done

Remarks
- saves will still work after changing language
- French movie is missing from the French files, I'm sorry. edit 10-aug-2011: french movie found! French previously.bik; MP2 MOVIES FR.rar (32.6 MB) by Masterchief8810 in post 7.
- I think at least German and French where created by fans, and not the original publisher.

- English: MP2-English.rar (254.2 MB)
- French: MP2-French.rar (221.8 MB)
- French Intro movie: MP2 MOVIES FR.rar (32.6 MB). tnx masterchief8810, see below!
- German: MP2-German.rar (255.9 MB)
- Italian: MP2-Italian.rar (316.7 MB)
- Polish: MP2-Polish.rar (398.7 MB) * includes data file with Polish character set.
- Russian: MP2-Russian.rar (235.8 MB) * includes data file with Russian character set.
- Spanish: MP2-Spanish.rar (256.3 MB)

and to conclude:
- Western European Data file, only needed if you want to convert from Polish or Russian to [EN-FR-GE-IT-SP]: MP2_Data.ras MP2_Data[EN].rar (130.9 MB). Data file with Western European character set.

I now uploaded the Polish files I got from sibo. While playing with those files I discovered that several different versions of the file mp2_data.ras existed, and updated the downloads to reflect this.

edit: 10-aug-2011, fixed Russian by adding the proper data file, see posts 8 and 9, thanks Смыч for posting the issue.

Polish ?

I'm sorry, I don't have the Polish MP2 language files, or they would have been here of course! I'm not sure they even exist. I'm afraid with the second one they skipped some translations they did do with the first one.

If you do find it or decide to make one yourself like the French and German ones, please let me know...

edit: okay got them now, will post em here in a couple of days...

Got Polish MP2 language files from sibo and uploaded them. Also found an issue with MP2_Data.ras making it necessary to update the Russian and add a Western-European data file to the downloads.

That is odd... I'll fix it... must have upped a wrong file, thanks for reporting!

I'm sorry to say the language files are not available at the moment, the upload service was taken down. I'm looking for other possibilities to host these files.

You don't happen to know some good 10gb webstorage without strings attached, do you? I'd like to put the language files and other stuff from my colletion there. sendspace only leaves them like 1 month, and others require like a $10/mo plan etc. I'm guessing traffic would not be excessive as it is all stuff for retro gaming anyways.
